There are so many songs that make me think of my special little angel. I shed tears when I hear them, but they mean so much. I love you so much Katie, and I hope you are looking down on us and watching over us all. That's the angel that you are!
Love,
Mommy
Here are some songs in remembrance of my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I will have the rest as I can get to them. I am hoping to have the actual lyrics being played on here so we are able to listen as well. But for now, please think of her as you read these special words.
All my love to my precious daughter, Katie.
Mommy
That's As Good As Good-bye Gets
We said our last "I love you's,"as we held each other tight,
Two years of tender feelings overflowing from our eyes,
And here we are with memories, all alone with no regrets,
And that's as good as good-bye gets.
You did a lot of loving, as you walked these earthly miles,
It's funny though we're crying still somehow we have to smile,
Cause your life, your love, your laughter, touched everyone you met,
And that's as good as good-bye gets.
There's a deep, deep sadness that comes with letting go,
And even though we're crying there is peace, there is hope.
Cause everyone who knew you, knew you loved to sing and play,
We taught you about Jesus, now you see Him face to face,
And we'll join you there in Heaven, when our last sun sets,
And that's as good as good-bye gets,
Katie, that's as good as good-bye gets.
This song was sung at Katie's funeral by Marguerite Vander Veen. Margie was a special person in Katie's life. She had taken care of Katie at our daycare (Heaven Sent) for along time. She also had helped give Katie her nickname at daycare (Katie-bug, lady-bug). Margie is a very special person who took her time and energy to be able to sing this song at the funeral and put her emotions aside. I give her alot of credit for doing this song and I will never forget it. I love ya Margie!
WHEN I GET WHERE I'M GOING
When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly
I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
I'm gonna walk with my grandaddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
Then I'll hug his neck
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here
So much pain and so much darkness
In the world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do
But when I get where I'm going
And I see my Maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
of his amazing grace
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah when I get where I'm going
~By Brad Paisley
This song was played at Katie's funeral. It was the perfect song, since she lost her grandfather just 8 months before she went to be in heaven. One of the lines in the song refer to my dad, Katie's Papa. So, I thought it was a perfect song and tribute to both of them.
Clouds
Clouds rolling by way up high
Sometimes I wonder if your up there
in the clouds
When it rains, skies are grey
Is that you crying
up there somewhere in the clouds
I hate sunny days
Nothing but empty blue skies so I pray
Ooh, how I pray for clouds taking shape
I swear sometimes I can almost see your face
Somewhere up there in the clouds
Sometimes on a plane I feel like I'm with you
Just hanging out somewhere up there
In the clouds rolling by
Way up high with the angels fly
Yes, I miss you down here
But, I'll see you up there in the clouds
In the clouds, yes
I miss you down here
Yeah. I'll see you up there in the clouds

~The first time I heard this song, I couldn't help but think of my precious Katie. It really brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful song. I hope you like it too.~
Jesus' Rocking Chair: by Tim Greene
Many hopeful moms and dads try to have a child
of their own. Some never get the chance, others
do and see them grown. Then there are those
who are expecting that precious baby soon. But
then it's gone before it ever leaves the safety
of its momma's womb.
Chorus:
Jesus has a rocking chair. And he holds that
precious baby with oh such tender care. He
takes the place of mom and dad. He's the
greatest parent a child could have. Don't
worry 'bout the children there. Jesus has a
rocking chair.
There are those who have a boy or girl, a
lovely gift of God. But, sickness or a tragedy
takes them from their parents arms. Momma's
wish for days gone by and daddy's long for that
lost child. But children are not lost when you
know where they are.
She was eighteen and not married, expecting
her little one. But in her time of confusion she
took the life of her son. Since then Jesus
forgave her and he took all her shame away.
But still she cries missing her baby, but she
hears the angels say
Repeat chorus to end
(Yes, Jesus Loves Me)
~This song was given to me by a co-worker from my home-care agency. I do have it on cassette, but am finding a way to get the actual song played on here, too. It is a beautiful song that says alot. ~
